Final training walk - Kosciusko

Today we did our final training walk - from Charlotte Pass to Kosciusko via Blue Lake and return - 20 odd km round trip. We walked with Paul (20) and Tom (15) and the first lesson was the difference in fitness of fit young men and not so young us! It probably meant we kept a faster pace than we otherwise would have, so no doubt was good for us.
The day was as windy as....well probably as windy as Patagonia! We were constantly buffeted by strong winds, giving us a glimpse of what it might be like in Torres del Paine. The views were beautiful though, and I can recommend this walk in Dec/Jan as the wildflowers were out everywhere!
We also tried out the walking sticks lent us by Ariane and Tim (thanks Ariane and Tim). I found mine very useful - Pat is not so sure.
We have now decided that 20km is a long way, and we are not as fit as we would like! Ah well....there's nowt to be done about it but just get in and experience this trekking stuff!
